MAGASHI PENINSULA

MAGASHI PENINSULA
On a secluded reach of Rwanda’s Akagera National Park, where papyrus traces the shoreline and the Mutumba Mountains rise beyond Lake Rwanyakazinga, Wilderness Magashi Peninsula was conceived not as an object in the landscape, but as a guest within it.
Designed in collaboration with Artichoke Interior Design, the eight-bed camp responds to one of Central Africa’s most ecologically diverse settings, a private peninsula where open plains, wetlands and wooded hills quietly converge. The ambition was to create a premium wilderness retreat that feels both expansive in outlook and intimate in scale.
An oval plan gathers the horizon, opening uninterrupted 360-degree views of water, sky and terrain. Accommodation is intentionally sparse: one two-bedroom Peninsula Villa and two freestanding suites, each set 200 meters apart for privacy and stillness. There are no connecting walkways; guests are personally escorted, allowing arrival to feel deliberate and unhurried. Star-bed towers rise above each suite, inviting nights beneath open skies where the landscape becomes the primary luxury.
Each villa includes a full bathroom with outdoor shower, a private sunken deck and plunge pool; amenities distilled to their essentials. At the center, intimate dining spaces and a fireside boma frame shared moments without disturbing the quiet.
Elevated structures, photovoltaic systems and responsibly sourced timber reflect a light-on-earth approach. Here, architecture recedes, nature leads, and luxury is measured by how gently one inhabits the land.
