GORILLA FOREST LODGE
Located minutes from the Uganda Wildlife Authority Centre, Gorilla Forest Lodge, an A&K Sanctuary, offers unparalleled access to gorilla trekking, with the rare chance to witness gorilla families wandering onto the grounds. It is a gateway to immersive experiences that foster a deep appreciation for conservation, culture, and nature’s beauty.
The lodge’s design mirrors the rhythms of Bwindi, using vernacular building techniques and locally sourced materials like banana leaves, clay bricks, and papyrus reeds. Wide overhangs and passive ventilation address the tropical climate, while open layouts, large windows, and high ceilings frame breathtaking forest views. Inside, earthy greens, neutrals, and terracotta tones create a tranquil, luxurious atmosphere grounded in nature.
Sustainability drives every aspect of the lodge. Locally sourced materials and traditional techniques, like weaving banana leaves and crafting recycled glass beads, reduce environmental impact while supporting Ugandan artisans. Through partnerships with local suppliers, the lodge preserves traditional skills and embeds Bwindi’s cultural and ecological essence into its design.
