TWO TENTED CAMPS DESIGNED BY LUXURY FRONTIERS AMONG TRAVEL + LEISURE’S TOP 100 HOTELS IN THE WORLD

Proud moment for international architecture & design firm as two projects,

Nayara Tented Camp in Costa Rica and Savute Elephant Lodge, A Belmond Safari in Botswana, rank #2 and #13, respectively

September 14, 2021 (San Francisco/Johannesburg)Luxury Frontiers, the San Francisco/Johannesburg-based international design firm specializing in upmarket, light-on-earth hospitality builds, celebrates two recently completed projects achieving high ranks in the Top 100 Hotels in the World category in the prestigious World’s Best Awards 2021 by the readers of Travel + Leisure.

A coveted honor in the travel industry, the magazine’s round-up of reader picks for the best hotels and resorts spanning the globe saw Nayara Tented Camp in Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica, designed by Luxury Frontiers in 2019, ranked #2 with a stellar score of 99.58, and Savute Elephant Lodge, A Belmond Safari in Chobe National Park, Botswana, reimagined by Luxury Frontiers in 2018, ranked #13 with a score of 98.75. Nayara Tented Camp also placed #1 in the Top 10 Resort Hotels in Central America.

In its description of the property, Travel + Leisure highlighted details of Nayara Tented Camp, for which Luxury Frontiers contributed architecture, interior design, and procurement, noting “Cliff-top safari tents have spacious bathrooms with soaking tubs, private decks, and infinity plunge pools that overlook the lush Costa Rican rain forest and the imposing Arenal Volcano.” The air-conditioned accommodations have been built at a higher altitude than their sister properties, Nayara Springs and Nayara Gardens, to provide unobstructed views of the volcano.

The magazine similarly celebrated Savute Elephant Lodge, for which Luxury Frontiers handled architecture, infrastructure, and back of house areas and teamed up with Inge Moore of Muza Lab in London on interior design, giving the renovated property a fresh look and feel. Travel + Leisure noted the “12-room oasis puts the savannah at guests’ fingertips” and recounted, “The tented accommodations are on raised wooden decks with thatched roofs and feature four-poster beds, hammocks, and spacious bathrooms with outdoor showers.” Luxury Frontiers was tasked with an extensive redesign of Savute Elephant Lodge, including a complete renovation of the guestrooms, implementation of a 100% green energy system, and development of entirely new public areas while arraying interiors with bespoke and, in many cases, handmade features.

“Nayara and Savute are two stunning projects that tapped our expertise and vision of deeply immersing guests into their respective surroundings,” noted Luca Franco, CEO and Founder of Luxury Frontiers. “It is exciting that readers of Travel + Leisure held both properties in such high regard and rewarded them with their top rankings. We designed each to open the door for guests to not just experience, but to be a part of the natural wonders around them, as well as to ensure that those wonders remain pristine.”
