Abu Camp

If you want nothing more than to become one with the endangered African elephant, then the Abu Camp is an idea retreat in this region. Guests can interact with elephant herds during their stay and protect the area natives. The camp rehabilitates elephants and places them back in the wild if they were once kept in captivity. The tented suites start at $1,800 a night.

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge

This lodge is on a private island in the Delta with a special focus on water activities. Guests can fish, take safaris on motorboats, or even enjoy barge cruises. The 12 luxury tents have outdoors showers and beds with copper headboards for added beauty and for a nod to the mining history in the area. Rooms start at $720 per night.

Camp Okavango

This camp is located in the Mangosteen trees on Nxaragha Island and is a great spot to disconnect from everyday life and enjoy the wildlife. The 11-suite property as a two-bedroom family suite and offers the chance to watch birds, fish, or take a guided bush walk. There is no Wi0Fi, but the computer in the guest lounge does have a satellite hook-up for emergencies. For $500 a night, guests can take all of this on and then some.

Duba Plains Camp

Duba Plains Camp opened again recently after a revamp and renovation. The give tents bring a safari style form the 1920s to light and the two-bedroom Duba Plains suite has a private game drive vehicle along with a guide, chef, and butler. This property is owned by National Geographic filmmakers, which says a lot, and is a local region known for lion and buffalo populations. Guests can grab a spot here for $1650 a night.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp

This camp was also recently renovated and offers a luxurious safari experience with a pavilion complete with a private terrace and dining area. The plunge pools are a good way to cool down at the end of the day and the camp relocates black and white rhinos to reserves to protect them from poachers.
