Micayla Freeman

Associate | Architecture & Sustainability

Architect. Systems thinker. Sustainability strategist. Micayla wears many hats at Luxury Frontiers and somehow makes it look easy. With over eight years of experience, she brings a calm, considered energy to even the most complex of projects, guiding them from early concept through to detail design and delivery.

She leads our Sustainability Centre of Excellence and oversees the studio’s growing Sustainability Portfolio. Her work helps formalise how we think, design, and operate more responsibly across every touchpoint. Her philosophy is simple: thoughtful design should feel effortless, even if it takes a few hundred hours and a spreadsheet or two to get there.

Micayla has contributed to several award-winning projects, including Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort, and The Treetop Tents of Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. She holds a Master of Architecture (Professional, cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand, where her research laid the foundation for her systems-driven approach.

Outside the studio, she’s a martial arts enthusiast, F1 superfan, and self-proclaimed “bush person,” never happier than when surrounded by sun, trees, and a good design problem.
