Graeme Labe, Principal & Managing Director at Luxury Frontiers, caught up with Premier Hospitality International to discuss Nayara Tented Camp. Located in Arenal Volcano National Park, the design of the camp embraces Costa Rican context and is family-friendly. Some of the one-bedroom units are even connected by a covered walkway making them perfect for two couples traveling together or for families. Nayara Tented Camp is the first of its kind in Central America and has set a precedent for sustainability in the region. The camp features its own sloth sanctuary and seamlessly merges nature into every aspect of the guest experience. Each tented suite features suburb views of the national park’s namesake volcano.
“Every single project is important, but at Luxury Frontiers what we are doing is taking a concept that has grown out of Africa and putting it into different regions around the world. We are mindful to doing this in a very contextual manner relative to the specific sites.”
As Luxury Frontiers prides itself on innovative solutions, a curved edge flysheet was designed specifically for the project, softening the tents’ silhouettes and allowing them to blend in more seamlessly with their surroundings. Moreover, the canvas colors used are custom, “meaning that no one else in the world has the colors that Nayara’s tents have.” Additionally, Luxury Frontiers designed each piece of furniture to not only be bespoke but to truly fit in with the adventurous spirit of the camp.
Nayara Tented Camp is a part of the larger Nayara Resorts footprint, also featuring Nayara Springs and Nayara Resorts, Spa & Gardens. All parts of the Nayara program are connected through a series of suspended bridges and walkways.
