Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge has been featured in the respected Premier Hospitality International Magazine for its achievement of securing a final nomination in the SBID awards. Premier Hospitality International goes in depth with Luxury Frontiers’ Principal and Managing Director, Graeme Labe, in a 3-page spread. Luxury Frontiers and Belmond made sure that sustainability is one the running key pillars of the redesign and rebuild project in Botswana’s Chobe National Park. It is “completely self-sufficient with regards to water, power, and sewage”. The previous electricity system operated on diesel generators, whereas now a 665 panel solar-panel farm provides nearly all electricity.
“A point of pride and befitting to the safari lodge’s impeccable location within an unadulterated wilderness area, all structures were designed to celebrate the great African bush, frame spectacular views and have a truly experiential function.”
Another big aspect of the project is the use of local craftsman in the interior design. Luxury Frontiers, Muza Lab, and the Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge worked closely with them to make sure that details were representative of local culture.
Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge prides itself on having some of the best viewing points for elephants in the world. For instance, “The new game-viewing hide is social media bait par excellence.”
